Discuss Security in ASEAN Bodies

Indonesia and Malaysia agreed on the importance to improve the security of the
waters within the ASEAN region. The agreement was reached when a meeting
between Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi Indonesian and Malaysian Foreign
Minister Dato 'Sri Anifah Hj. Secure.
"The two Foreign
Ministers exchange ideas about the importance of improving security in the
territorial waters of ASEAN, including in areas where frequent hostage.
Security waters will greatly impact the economic development of ASEAN,"
the press release received Sindonews Foreign Ministry on Tuesday (12/4 ).
Indonesia and Malaysia is
currently experiencing the same fate, namely the citizens of both countries
held hostage by the Abu Sayyaf. Ten Indonesian nationals and four citizens of
Malaysia was seized by Abu Sayyaf when their boat was intercepted in waters
between Malaysia and the Philippines.
According to the Foreign
Ministry press release, in addition to discussing security in the region, the
two ministers also discussed the settlement of maritime boundary. As is known,
the polemic border between Malaysia and Indonesia garbage is still ongoing.
"The two Foreign
Ministers also agreed that negotiations maritime border may be intensified. The
appointment of the Special Envoy believed to be able to speed up efforts to
resolve the maritime border. The completion of this maritime borders will help
