Sita 1,500 Firearms Iran's submission Houthi Rebels

The United States Navy (US) seized more than 1,500 firearms were smuggled
through the Arabian Sea. The US believes a firearm was sent by Iran to Houthi
rebel group in Yemen.
Delivered the US Navy, as
reported by AFP on Tuesday (05/04/2016), a patrol boat USS Sirocco intercept
and seize the ship sails without a flag which carry the consignment firearms on
March 28. Further inspection found an illegal cargo on the ship.
The illegal cargo,
according to the US Navy, consisting of 1,500 kinds of Ak-47 rifles, 200
launchers RPG (rocket-propelled grenade) and 21 units with a .50-caliber
machine guns.
The ship and its crew
sailed left back after all illegal cargo was confiscated. Not known more about
the number of crew and their nationalities.
In a statement, the US
Navy calls the incident is part of a series of illegal arms shipments, the US
is believed to come from Iran.
Yemeni pro-government
military forces, backed by Saudi Arabia-led coalition, has been fighting Houthi
rebels for over a year. During the Houthi rebels are believed to be supported
by Iran, which are both Shi'ite.
Both the warring groups
were preparing for a ceasefire that triggered UN, which came into force on 10th
April. The truce is expected to have an impact both on the peace talks,
scheduled to be held in Kuwait a week thereafter.(N/U)
